# Firefox

Before proceeding with the setup, confirm that you’ve successfully [port-forwarded your proxy](https://docs.9proxy.com/getting-started/residential-proxy-by-ips/for-macos-windows/configure-proxy) for proper functionality.

## Open Proxy Settings

Launch **Firefox** on your computer.

Click the **☰ Menu** > **Settings** (**Preferences** on **macOS**).

Navigate to the **General** tab.

Scroll down to **Network Settings** and click **Settings**.

## Configure the Proxy

Select **Manual proxy configuration**.

In the **SOCKS Host** field, enter your **Local IP**.

In the **Port** field, enter the forwarded proxy port.

Click **OK** to apply the changes.

## Verify the Setup

To confirm that your proxy is working correctly, visit[ ipinfo.io](https://ipinfo.io/what-is-my-ip) and check if your IP address has changed.
