# FoxyProxy Extension

First, you will need to download and install the FoxyProxy extension [For Chrome](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/foxyproxy/gcknhkkoolaabfmlnjonogaaifnjlfnp?hl=en) or [For Firefox](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/foxyproxy-standard/)

Before proceeding with the setup, confirm that you’ve successfully [port forwarded your proxy](https://docs.9proxy.com/getting-started/residential-proxy-by-ips/for-macos-windows/configure-proxy) for proper functionality.

## Proxy Setup

### Open FoxyProxy Settings

* Click on the **FoxyProxy** icon in your browser.
* Select **Options** to access the proxy configuration panel.

### Add a New Proxy

* Navigate to **Proxies** → **Add** to create a new proxy profile.

### Configure Your Proxy

* **Title**: Assign a recognizable name to your proxy.
* **Proxy Type**: Select SOCKS5 or HTTP(S) based on your configuration.
* **Hostname**: Your Local IP.
* **Port:** The port number you forwarded the proxy to.
* Click **Save** to apply the settings.

### Activate Your Proxy

* Select the newly added proxy from the FoxyProxy menu.
* Start browsing with your 9Proxy-powered connection.

To ensure your proxy is set up correctly, visit[ https://ipinfo.io/what-is-my-ip](https://ipinfo.io/what-is-my-ip) to check if your IP address has changed.
